Boston
Pops Concerts featuring the Euphonium!!
Adam
had the great pleasure of performing as Guest Soloist with the world
famous Boston Pops Orchestra for three concerts (June 12, 13, and
14) at Symphony Hall in Boston, Massachusetts.
The
soloist’s program included the World Premieres of
orchestral versions (arranged and orchestrated by Adam Frey) of
Sin tu Amor by Miguel Sandoval, Pantomime by Philip
Sparke, and encore The Volunteer by Walter Rodgers. Aaron
Copland’s Shall We Gather provided a contemplative
lyrical interlude between the Sandoval and Sparke.
The
Boston Pops also performed Gershwin’s Cuban Overture,
Piston’s Suite from the Incredible Flutist, medleys
of Irving Berlin, Kiss Me Kate, and Patriotic songs, and of course
the finale of Sousa’s unquenchable Stars and Stripes.
Maestro
Bruce Hangen led the concerts with the great charisma that earned
him his position as the Principal Pops Guest Conductor.
Hangen has worked with the Pops since 1979 and also conducts
the Indian Hill Symphony and the Portland Opera Repertory Theatre
in Maine.
The
Saturday evening concert was broadcast over Boston Radio Station
WCRB 102.5. |
