Beyond the Horizon Volume 3 continues the series dedicated to highlighting new repertoire for the euphonium. We feature two manuscript works: Roland Szentpali's Pearls 2 and Eric Ewazen's Sonata for Euphonium. Both were commissioned by the 2008 Euphonium Foundation Consortium Commission. There is also a programatic "tone poem" by Rolf Wilhelm, Die Kraft des Mondes (The Power of the Moon), and Philip Sparkes's Harlequin. Also the Euphonium Fantasy by Bruce Fraser features a great melody and some exciting double tonguing. The disc concludes with the soaring lines and movie-esque sound of Kevin Kaska's Concertino for Euphonium and Band that features the Middle Tennessee State University Wind Ensemble under the baton of Reed Thomas." -- Adam Frey
